Google Business Profile Post Examples: 35+ Copy-Ready Templates [2026]
TL;DR
Google Business Profile posts (the platform Google renamed from Google My Business) are short updates that appear on your profile in Google Search and Google Maps. There are three live post types: Update (labeled "What's new"), Offer, and Event. Each post allows up to 1,500 characters, but only about the first 100 characters show before a "Read more" cutoff, so front-load the important words. The old COVID-19 update type has been retired.
This guide gives you 35+ copy-ready example posts sorted by post type and business type, plus how each type actually behaves. The examples below use bracketed CTA labels like [Book Now Button] to show where Google's real call-to-action button sits.
The one thing most guides miss: since November 2025 you can schedule Google Business Profile posts natively, for free, right inside business.google.com. See how post scheduling works for the step-by-step.
Best practices:
- Include a clear call-to-action button
- Add a high-quality photo (720x720px recommended)
- Put your key message and any local keyword in the first ~100 characters
- Post consistently rather than in bursts

How Google Business Profile Posts Actually Work
Google Business Profile posts are short updates that appear directly on your profile in Google Search and Google Maps. They help you share timely information, promote events and offers, showcase products, and stay active in local results.
A few practical facts that change how you should write them:
- The app is gone, the posts are not. Google retired the standalone Google My Business app in 2024. You now create and manage posts inside Google Search or Maps (search your own business name while signed in) or in the Business Profile Manager at business.google.com. The product is officially called Google Business Profile, though "GMB" is still common shorthand.
- Three live post types, each behaves differently. An Update ("What's new") post has no fixed end date, but it loses its prime placement after about 7 days as newer posts push it down; older ones stay accessible on your profile. An Offer post uses a start and end date you set and shows a coupon-style layout. An Event post stays featured until the event's end date passes. The former COVID-19 update type no longer exists.
- 1,500 character limit, ~100 character preview. You can write up to 1,500 characters, but only roughly the first 100 show before Google truncates with "Read more," so lead with the offer or hook.
- Photo specs. Google recommends 720x720px images (1:1), minimum 250x250px, JPG or PNG, between 10KB and 5MB. Uploading at the recommended size avoids awkward cropping.
- Native scheduling exists now. As of November 2025 you can schedule a post for a future date and time directly in business.google.com, for free, without a third-party tool. That removes the biggest reason people used to skip posting.

Frequently Asked Questions
How often should I post on Google My Business for best results?
Post on Google My Business 2-3 times per week minimum for optimal visibility. Consistent posting keeps your business fresh in local search results and provides customers with current information about your offerings, events, and updates. High-performing businesses often post daily during peak seasons.
What types of Google My Business posts perform best for local businesses?
Event posts and offers typically perform best, generating the most customer actions like calls, directions, and website visits. Product posts work well for retail businesses, while update posts are effective for sharing news and behind-the-scenes content. Mix different post types for balanced engagement.
Should I include call-to-action buttons in every GMB post?
Yes, always include relevant call-to-action buttons like "Book Now," "Order Online," "Get Directions," or "Call Today." CTAs make it easy for customers to take immediate action and can significantly increase conversion rates. Choose CTAs that match your specific business goals for each post.
How long do Google Business Profile posts stay visible?
It depends on the type. Update ("What's new") posts have no fixed expiry, but they lose prime placement after about 7 days as newer posts push them down; older ones stay accessible on your profile. Offer posts run for the start and end dates you set, and Event posts stay featured until the event's end date passes. Consistent posting keeps fresh content at the top of your profile.
Can I schedule Google Business Profile posts in advance?
Yes. Since November 2025 you can schedule posts natively inside business.google.com for free by choosing a future date and time, no third-party tool required. You can also use a social media management tool like SocialRails to schedule Google posts alongside your other platforms. Scheduling helps you stay consistent through busy periods and holidays.
What image requirements should I follow for GMB posts?
Use high-resolution images (at least 720x720px) that are relevant to your post content. Show people using your products or services, include your business branding, and use natural lighting when possible. Avoid stock photos and focus on authentic images that represent your business accurately.
How do I measure the success of my Google Business Profile posts?
Use the Performance section of your Google Business Profile (formerly GMB Insights) to track views, clicks on call-to-action buttons, phone calls generated, direction requests, and website clicks. Monitor which post types and times get the best engagement, then optimize your strategy based on performance data.
Can I use the same content for GMB posts and other social media platforms?
While you can repurpose content ideas, customize posts for each platform's audience and features. GMB posts should focus on local relevance and immediate actions, while other platforms may emphasize different aspects. Avoid posting identical content to maintain authenticity across channels.
