Where the Error Appears

Most guides to this error give you one undifferentiated list of fixes: refresh, clear cache, change browser. That list is mostly useless, because the four contexts below fail for genuinely different reasons and only one of them is a browser problem.

Work out which rung you are on before you clear anything.

Rung 1: a form you were submitting. Signup, a birthdate prompt, a password change, or the business settings screen. The tell is that the error appears the moment you press Save or Continue, and the rest of the site works fine. Nothing is broken on your device. One field in that form was rejected by the server and Pinterest is not saying which. Clearing your browser cache can only ever help rung 2. On rungs 1, 3 and 4 it does nothing at all.

What Pinterest Documents About This Error

We checked Pinterest's own sources, so you can stop hunting.

The developer error code reference does not list it. Pinterest's API error code page opens with "In an API request response, you may encounter an error or warning. Each has a number and an associated description," then lists numbered codes for customer lists, audiences and shopping catalogs. There is no entry for an "invalid parameters" message. The same page adds that "Many errors not covered here are specific to a particular endpoint," which is the closest thing to an official acknowledgement that the string you are seeing may never be documented anywhere. The help center has no article for it. Pinterest's help center covers login failures, missing Pins, the Save extension and bulk editor error messages, but none of those articles use this wording. If you searched the help center and came up empty, that is not you missing something.

What that means practically. Nobody outside Pinterest can tell you with certainty which field was rejected, because the message deliberately does not say. Any page that gives you a confident percentage breakdown of causes, or claims a given fix resolves most cases, is guessing. The productive approach is elimination: change one input at a time and see which change makes the error stop.

Fixing It in the Pinterest App or Website

If it happened when you pressed Save on a settings form

Go back through the form and fill in every field, including the ones that look optional, then save again. A community reply on Pinterest's business forum described the fix in exactly those terms: confirm all of your setting information is complete, then click save. Field level validation messages are often not rendered, so a blank or malformed field surfaces only as the generic error.

If the form contains a website URL, check that it resolves on its own with the protocol included. If it contains a business name or description, strip emoji and unusual symbols and try again before assuming anything else.

If it happened when saving a Pin with the browser extension

Pinterest's help center documents real requirements for the Save extension, and two of them contradict advice you will find elsewhere:

• Private or Incognito mode does not work. Pinterest states plainly that in a private or Incognito window "the Pinterest Save Extension won't work," and tells you to log in from a regular browser window. Guides that tell you to try Incognito are handing you a step Pinterest has documented as broken.
• JavaScript must be enabled, and the browser should be current. Pinterest names Chrome, Firefox and Microsoft Edge.
• Other extensions can break it. Pinterest specifically calls out ad blocking, anti tracking and virus protection extensions, and recommends disabling them one at a time rather than all at once, so you learn which one it was.
• Removing and reinstalling the extension, and clearing cache and cookies, are also on Pinterest's own list.

That is the entire legitimate case for the browser fixes. Applied to the extension they are Pinterest's own instructions. Applied to a scheduler or an API call they are noise.

If it happened when saving a Pin normally

Change the Pin, not the browser. Swap the image for a different file, remove the destination link and save without it, and shorten the title and description. If a stripped down Pin saves and the original does not, the problem is a specific input, most likely the image or the link. Fixing It During Signup or Login

This is the rung most often misdiagnosed as a cache problem.

Date of birth is the usual suspect. Pinterest's help center states "You need to be at least 13 years old to use Pinterest," and that in EU member states and some other countries the minimum is higher, between 13 and 16, depending on local data protection consent law. It also states that "If you don't meet Pinterest's age minimum for your location, you can't open a Pinterest account or use the features." A birthdate below the minimum for your country, or a mistyped year, is rejected at submission. If you meet the age minimum and simply mistyped, re entering the correct date is the whole fix. If you entered a date below the minimum, no browser change will get you past it.

A blocked login is a different error with a documented wait. Pinterest's help center says that if you get a message that your login was blocked, Pinterest may have blocked activity from your IP address or your area, and to wait thirty minutes before trying to log in or save Pins again, adding that most limits are removed automatically. That thirty minutes is Pinterest's own number and applies to blocked logins specifically. It is not a general waiting period for the invalid parameters message, and we found no source at all for the "wait 15 to 30 minutes" advice that circulates for this error.

Other things Pinterest documents about failing logins: a suspended account shows an error when you try to log in and has an appeals path, unusual activity can trigger a forced password reset and a logout of every session, and a Facebook, Google or Apple login can fail because Pinterest's access was revoked inside that account rather than because of anything on Pinterest's side.

Fixing It in a Scheduling Tool or the API

If a scheduler or your own integration threw this, ignore everything about browsers.

Reconnect the account first. SmarterQueue's help documentation for this exact error tells users to log back in to Pinterest.com with the correct account and then reconnect the profile in the tool. A stale or wrong authorization is the cheapest thing to rule out, and it is the first step the vendors themselves publish.

Then suspect the image. The same documentation states the error "usually means that there is invalid content in the Pin that you're trying to publish," and that "Pinterest won't accept a post without a valid image." When to Contact Pinterest Support

Escalate when the error is not yours to fix:

• A minimal, stripped down Pin fails repeatedly, on more than one network and more than one device.
• You cannot complete signup and you do meet the age minimum for your country.
• The error appears on a settings form where every field is filled in correctly.
• You suspect an account restriction. Pinterest's help center notes that suspended accounts show an error at login and have a formal appeals path, so that is the route rather than a general support ticket.

When you write in, include the exact screen, the exact action, the account, the approximate timestamp, and whether it reproduces on a second device. Pinterest cannot look up a generic error string without knowing which request produced it.
