Page Drafts in Meta Business Suite (Desktop)

This is the only surface where Facebook lets you keep more than one draft, and it is where almost every "missing" Page draft turns up.

1. Go to business.facebook.com and switch to the Page you were posting as.
2. In the left menu, click Content.
3. At the top of the content list, click the Drafts tab.
4. Click a draft to reopen it, then publish it, schedule it, or save it again.

Meta's own help article on creating posts and saving drafts confirms the split: you can save multiple drafts in Meta Business Suite on desktop, but only one at a time from the Facebook app (facebook.com/help/642707099175171).

Two layout notes that trip people up:

• Some Business Suite builds label the list Posts & reels rather than Content, with Published, Scheduled and Drafts as sub-tabs. Same data, different wording.
• Reel drafts and post drafts are separate lists. If a draft is missing from the posts view, check the reels view before assuming it was deleted.

Page Drafts on Mobile

There are two different mobile apps, and they behave differently.

Meta Business Suite app (recommended): tap the Posts & stories icon in the bottom bar, tap the arrow next to Published, and choose Drafts. These are the same drafts as desktop, so anything saved on your computer shows up here once the app refreshes.

Facebook app, posting as a Page: the app holds one Page draft at a time. Starting a new draft replaces the one you had. Treat it as a pause button, not as storage.

If the draft you saved on desktop is not in the app yet, close the app fully and reopen it. Sync between desktop and the Business Suite app is not instant.

Personal Profile Drafts

This is where most of the confusion comes from, and where most other guides are wrong.

On facebook.com in a browser, personal profile posts have no drafts feature at all. Closing the composer offers to discard or keep editing, and that is the whole mechanism. There is no drafts list, no Save Draft button, and no recovery path once you discard. Copy long posts into a notes app before you write them in the composer.

In the Facebook app, an unfinished personal post is offered back to you. When you back out of the composer, the app offers to save what you wrote, and the saved text is stored on that device:

• Android: you get a notification that the draft was saved. Tap the notification to reopen it, or tap the composer again and pick it up from there.
• iPhone: only one profile draft is kept, and it is offered back when you next tap What's on your mind?. Starting a new post overwrites it.

Because that draft lives on the phone rather than on Meta's servers, it does not sync to your laptop, it does not survive a reinstall, and clearing app storage removes it. Meta does not document a recovery route for it. If it is not in the composer, it is not recoverable.

Do Reel Drafts Expire?

Reel drafts are their own system, and they are the one Facebook draft with a documented expiry.

1. From your Feed, tap the plus icon in the top right.
2. Choose Reel.
3. Tap Drafts and pick the one you want to finish.

Reel drafts are the one Facebook draft type widely reported to expire, and 60 days is the figure repeated across guides and creator forums. Treat it as unconfirmed. Meta's own reel-draft help articles (530248109307526 and 267069659110616) are mobile-gated: opened on a desktop browser they return only "This feature isn't available on computers", with no expiry stated anywhere in the readable text. So nobody citing those articles for a 60-day rule is quoting them.

The practical takeaway does not depend on the exact number. A reel draft is not permanent storage, so finish it or save the video to your camera roll. The separate "3 days" figure repeated across most draft guides describes device-level personal profile behavior and has never been published by Meta either.

Do Facebook Drafts Expire?

Honest answer, split by surface, because the rule is genuinely different in each:

If a page tells you Facebook drafts expire after a fixed number of days across the board, it is generalising the phone behavior to everything else.

Why Your Draft Vanished

Work through these in order. The first three explain the large majority of cases.

1. You are looking at the wrong identity. A draft written while posting as your Page is not visible on your personal profile, and vice versa. Switch profiles in the top-right menu and check again.
2. You are in the wrong sub-list. Post drafts and reel drafts are separate tabs in Business Suite. So are scheduled posts, which are not drafts at all.
3. You saved it on a phone, not in Business Suite. Personal profile drafts never leave the device that made them. There is nothing to sync.
4. It was actually published, then deleted. Deleted posts go to Trash in your activity log and can be restored for 30 days (facebook.com/help/284581436192616). Check there before assuming the draft was lost.
5. A reel draft aged out. Reel drafts do not appear to be kept indefinitely, and an aged-out draft cannot be restored.

Browser cache clearing, history hunting and form-recovery extensions do not restore Facebook drafts. Draft text is not stored in your browser in a recoverable way, so skip that advice wherever you see it.

Creator Studio and Publishing Tools Are Gone

If a guide sends you to either of these, it is out of date and everything else on it is suspect:

• Meta Creator Studio was announced for shutdown in January 2023 and its functions were folded into Meta Business Suite. It is not a place you can visit any more.
• Publishing Tools, the old Page tab that held drafts and scheduled posts, disappeared with the New Pages Experience. Its contents moved into Business Suite's Content section.

Anything those tools used to do, drafts included, now happens in Meta Business Suite.

How to Save a Draft Properly

On a Page, in Business Suite (desktop): start a post, add your content, then click Finish later instead of Publish. The post lands in Content > Drafts.

On a Page, in the Facebook app: compose the post, back out, and accept the save prompt. Remember it is a single slot.

For a reel: build the reel, then choose to save it as a draft before sharing. Do not treat it as long-term storage, and keep a copy of the video on your device.

On your personal profile: there is no reliable draft function. Write anything long somewhere else first.
